Have you ever stopped to wonder at how precious life is?
The older I get, and the more I clear out my past so I can make the most of the present and future, which means I can then live my purpose and follow my dreams, the more I realize the truth of this.
The funny thing is, when I was ill and unhappy, I never saw things this way at all.
In fact, I spent a lot of my time wishing I wasn’t here, wishing it was all over. It was just too hard, and all I experienced day after day was sadness, anger, depression, exhaustion…
Can you relate to this? Have you ever felt so bad that you have thought it would be easier for it to be over?
When we are happy and joyful, we want to live. And when we are unhappy or unwell, often we feel it’s just too hard to keep going. Or at least that was how it was for me.
This is pretty sad, but true for many people. And it has to do with what is known as the ‘scale of consciousness’.
Depending on where we sit on the scale of human consciousness, we will either experience life as enjoyable… or not.
So how you are living your life right now? Do you wake up every day feeling a sense of gratitude and awe for your life, glad to be alive? Or is every day a constant chore of a struggle?
If it’s the latter, would you like it to be different?
Because the truth is, our human life is very precious. And most of the time, and especially if we are unhappy or ill, we don’t realize the truth of this statement…
BUBBLE IN WATER
A few years ago I heard that the Tibetans have a saying: “Every human life is like a bubble in water”.
In other words, the bubble can burst at any moment.
Many of the people I know who are truly happy and successful say they had a ‘wake up call’ through an accident or illness, which made them understand the preciousness of life, and helped them realize that they wanted to make the most of every minute of the rest of their life.
For me it was not an overnight experience, but the hard work and perseverance is paying off, and I no longer ‘wish it was all over’.
It is said that we teach what we need to learn, and this has certainly been the case for me.
I spent most of my life being intensely unhappy and many years being ill. There were many times when I felt like it was just too hard to go on, too much of a struggle.
But something kept me going. And now I’m so glad it did, because finally I am starting to experience true happiness.
It’s been a lot of work, but the good news is that because I investigated this topic so deeply and for so long, I can now short-cut that journey for others.
Not that we don’t each need to do the work for ourselves, but when we have a guide who has travelled up the mountain before us, it makes it so much easier and quicker.
So this is exactly why I do the work I do.
I want to inspire people to know that they can be happy, they can be healthy, they can get to the top of that mountain.
And they don’t have to do it alone.
It EXCITES me to inspire others up that mountain!
And here’s the interesting thing:
There are just a few core reasons why we stay stuck at the bottom of the mountain, one of the biggest of which is this:
We don’t value ourselves enough. We don’t think we are good enough. We don’t feel we are ‘enough’.
Does this ring true for you? Do you feel good enough? Do you feel you are ‘enough’? Enough for your self… enough for others?
Without exception, including myself, with all the clients I have worked with over the past 11 years, this is the core, overriding issue at the bottom of unhappiness and illness.
We simply do not feel good enough. We walk around with low self-esteem, low self-worth, low self-confidence, most of the time not even realizing we are doing so because we’ve been doing it for so long it has become our ‘normal’.
But here’s the problem:
If we do not value ourselves, we can never be truly happy or healthy or authentically successful.
And low self-value leads to unhappiness and even eventually chronic illness.
Because when we do not value the truth of our wonderfulness, (yes, that phrase will feel uncomfortable if you cannot yet resonate with it as a truth), we will constantly do things to negate ourselves, put ourselves down, make ourselves feel bad, and allow others to treat us less than respectfully. We will abuse ourselves and allow others to do so too. We will constantly strive to be better, do better, feel better. We will push ourselves harder and harder, trying to be ‘ok’, but nothing is ever good enough! It’s exhausting. Right? And so we unconsciously become the bringers of our own doom.
So what is the answer?
To learn to love ourselves, respect ourselves, VALUE OURSELVES. YOURself. That means you. Yes you.
So this is why I love one of the methods I use a lot to help people transform their life.
